Tolson Center, Elkhart Education Foundation announce jazz concert fundraiser
An upcoming jazz concert at The Lerner will support two organizations in Elkhart that are dedicated to helping local kids.
Proceeds from Horns of Plenty! Saturday, Nov. 1, featuring Tim Cunningham and Ty Causey, will be split between the Tolson Center and the Elkhart Education Foundation.
Leaders of the organizations and city officials gathered Monday, Oct. 13, to announce the concert and say a few words about the importance of working together.
“There is a movement in Elkhart that says, ’we are going to get together and support each other,’” Clyde Riley, director of the Tolson Center said. “I think we can set the tone for other communities in the state of Indiana that Elkhart’s community works together for our kids.”
He added later that partnering with the Elkhart Education Foundation is a natural choice for the Tolson Center, since the two organizations have a similar goal — providing opportunities and support for Elkhart children.
The Elkhart Education Foundation started in 2014 and aims to provide grants for Elkhart teachers and financial support for Elkhart Community Schools students who cannot afford to be involved in athletics, art or other activities, among other goals.
Tickets for the Horns of Plenty! concert range in price from $22.50 to $32.50 and are on sale at The Lerner box office.
The show begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1.
